This session aims to provide an overview of the safe and effective use of over-the-counter medications for the pediatric patient. Evidence will be reviewed for the following conditions: cough & cold, pain/fever management, and GI disorders (reflux and constipation). Just because a medication is available without a prescription, does not necessarily mean that it is always appropriate for the pediatric patient. An overview will be provided for each condition, highlighting the medication management options available. By the end of the session, attendees should have a good understanding of when OTCs are appropriate for the pediatric patient, the evidence for their use, and tips for helpful administration to help with compliance.
